Together Towards Sustainable Tourism

Kuoni has committed itself to various international agreements supporting responsible tourism. These include but are not limited to the following:

The Code of Conduct for the Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation in Travel and Tourism

More and more tour operators and hotels are collaborating to combat the commercial sexual exploitation of children and minors. In 2006, Kuoni became a signatory to the Code of Conduct for the Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation in Travel and Tourism. By signing “the Code” Kuoni is committed to act preemptively to prevent child prostitution. Thereby, Kuoni informs its customers about the issue, contractually obliges its partners to adopt the same ethical approach and trains its partner hotels and their employees on proper actions if they come across any cases of sexual exploitation of children in the course of their work.

Global Code of Ethics for Tourism

Kuoni is committed to the UNWTO Global Code of Ethics for Tourism (GCET). This is a comprehensive set of principles whose purpose is to guide stakeholders in tourism development: central and local governments, local communities, the tourism industry and its professionals, as well as visitors, both international and domestic.

Tour Operator Initiative

Kuoni is also a member of the Tour Operator Initiative, an association registered in Switzerland and open to all tour operators, regardless of their size and geographical location, which aims to support a sustainable development of the tourism industry. The initiative seeks to develop management tools in order to design and conduct tours that minimise their negative environmental, social and economic impacts while optimising their benefits.
